Caught In The Crossfire

Militants, suspected to be of the Dimasa tribe, stopped two buses in Assam, lined the passengers on the road, and slit the throats of passengers of the rival Karbi clan. They burned down the vehicles and proceeded to set fire to the neighbouring village. A 3-month old baby was flung into the fire. Read about it here. Or don't.
What revolting form of hatred prompts such violence? Which man can set alight a child and then live guiltlessly without a thought to the heinous nature of his crime? What is territorial supremacy good for, if the people of the territory are dead?
I hope they killed the child's parents before him.
It's most frightening when you know this is happening all over the world.

There's no joy in the morning.

The horror of a world where we are reduced to hoping for the lesser evil.

I know someone who drowned eight puppies that her dog had laid because she couldn't afford to keep them. nor did she find any buyers. It's the same mentality really....

Your post had very lurid imagery....

Bab'ly - a shame, isn't it? there's Pujo on the one hand, and then there's this.

Pip - how is it the same mentality? the lady u mention drowned those puppies because otherwise they would have starved to death anyway. that child did not have to die- none of the people on those buses needed to die. martyrs to the delusions of other people.
Hullo, by the way. :-]

there exits in this world men who will take the life of anyone without a single regret.Even if it is a child.
We always lived in a horrific world where false influences and belief's lead to such things.
The only thing to do ow is to hope fore a better future and to try and create that better future.

someone - well said, my friend. "All we need is love"? :-]

There is too much apathy. Until we can overcome that, the better future will remain too distant.

Ms. D - I agree. But there's also too much poverty, too much wealth, too much politics, too much hunger and too many who overfeed... we live in a world of displaced fulcrums. That's our problem.

Thank you for stopping by. :-]

I'll be dropping in more often that is for certain =D.

I think my latest peeve is apathy because of my experience at the place I volunteered at.

Displaced fulcrums -yes. I shall ignore the 'too much wealth, too much politics' because I saw too many problems with those- from a distance. If I begin with that I shall not stop until you kick me out from here :P.

and yet we say we are the most civilized animals.....
humans are such a hypocritical species.it is absolutely repulsive,disgusting,loathsome..words are simply not enough to decribe the utter depravity we are capable of..

Ms. D - what's a blog for if u can't share ur experiences? do keep coming back .. it's always lovely to see a whole lot of page hits on my web counter, not to mention the comments :-]

Jaded - and yet, my dear, the sun shines, the rainbow delights, and there's no better feeling than that which a fond word or a gentle look or a soft touch from a loved one can induce :-] Where men are killed mercilessly, there are others who are saved too. If we hadn't a thing to be thankful for, then life would be quite meaningless, don't u think? That's the thought that keeps me going.
Do drop in again!

Too much wealth and politics. Well, the example may not necessarily interest you guys because it involves Canadian politics (where I live now).

Canadian system is under the threat of turning into the kind States has. Why? Because people with too much money mess with politics and screw it up for the rest of us.

There is talk of privatising health care, of privatising universities amongst other things. Which means everyone at the lower end will not be able to afford health care, a basic human right AND an education. Tell me how is Harvard's $50 K/annum affordable?

Most of us would prefer NOT to ape the States and just make the government work harder and personally I would prefer if we STOP giving the $%#@!#$ queen part of our taxes.
I really dislike the British royal family esp. that woman on the throne ( she refused to apologise for colonial war crimes in india, that woman). But I shouldn't start off on the British royalty. I can express my extreme dislike for them in another comment section and not hijack this one.

So..... that was my summary of ONE of the problems. There are others: the profits that walmart/tommy/other such companies make at the expense of Indian labour/craft/art. That asshole Bush screwing the world and our side of the border and terrorists.
Stupid research in UK blaming Hindu rituals for THEIR mad cow disease. Sure. Coz we asked you to like .....feed cows with cow meat? It shows the prevailing UK mentality and my own experiences with them.

Well I could go on and on...as you may have begun to notice me hijacking this comments section... :)
